The Annual Christmas on Main Street in Sunfield will be Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. with activities centered at the Welch Historical Museum. Enjoy free pizza with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus who will distribute free gift toys to the children.
Come early to greet the ever-popular Grinch before he disappears about 11:30 in his Grinchmobile. The Sunfield Food Bank hosts bake-sale goodies, and the Sunfield Historical Society is sponsoring a Christmas-tree ornament sale with more than 50 original creations by Karrie Sayer of Pinckney. Proceeds are earmarked for museum repairs.
Local author Tom Huggler will sign copies of his historical novel, The Woman She Left Behind, the untold, true story of a Sunfield, Michigan, farm widow who left three children with her hired man to travel through a Civil War battle zone in search of her dying Union soldier son. Book sale proceeds are also slated for museum repair.
Other activities include the local fire department’s annual Feather Party featuring bingo prizes of frozen turkeys and chickens, Mapes Furniture hosts gift sales from their specialty vendors, and the Lakewood Area Lions Club offers free vision checks for children.
