Coaches Comments:
We are thrilled with our game play, and more specifically our pitchers came out and absolutely attacked the strike zone. Carly ended 7 innings with a pitch count of 83, and Rylee ended her 5 inning game with 58 pitches. Our defense came up with some very big plays and Addie kept the runners honest with her arm. Our offense was just as strong as our defense- big hits- great bunts and we ended up with two huge league wins tonight. Our league is so competitive and really behind Laingsburg it was an outright battle for second. These two wins clinched our position and we are extremely proud of the girls and how they’ve progressed.
The St. Patrick’s Varsity Softball team traveled to Lansing to play Holt in the Greater Lansing Softball Classic this evening. The Shamrocks lost to Holt 2-7, but put up a fantastic fight to a solid team and program.
Coaches Comments:
We were extremely honored and excited to accept the invitation to play in tonight’s game which started the prestigious Softball Classic tournament. Holt has a fantastic program and they are having a phenomenal year, so facing them first was something we mentally prepared for over the past week. Our girls came out and played well all around. Carly and Rylee absolutely delivered spot on pitches that worked Holt’s offense into some hits that we fielded cleanly and the girls completed three strikeouts as well. Addie played a heck of a game behind the plate and caught a high pop fly to end an inning. Offensively, we got hits but left a few too many girls on base this evening. Carly Scheurer went 3 for 4, with a double and an RBI. Mara Schrauben went 2 for 3, and gave us a huge spark with a solo Homerun in the bottom of the second. In the end we were thrilled to play this evening and equally as proud to highlight many team victories throughout the game. Our congratulations go out to Holt and we wish them well in their postseason.
