The Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks hosted the Montabella Mustangs for a huge late season game on Friday, October 24th. Montabella came in highly ranked, and at 8-0 had beaten every opponent handily. The Shamrocks wasted no time establishing their dominance, and ended up winning the game 42-16.
In the first quarter, the Shamrocks took the opening drive and marched right down the field, capping the drive with a 1 yard touchdown run by Caleb Pline. Brody Beckhold made the extra point, making the score 7-0 after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, the Shamrocks really pounded the Mustangs, withe Tyler Thelen snatching a 14 yard touchdown pass from Jerryd Scheurer to start the scoring. Brady Leonard then capped off a long drive on a 2 yard touchdown. The end of the half saw more fireworks, as the Mustangs were throwing into their own endzone, with time expiring, Brady Leonard picked off a pass and began returning it, before being wrapped up at around the 50- this led to some playground football, when he pitched the ball back to Jerryd Scheurer, who also then pitched the ball back to Charlie Thelen, and with a host of Shamrock blockers, Charlie took it to the house, making the score 27-0 at halftime.
The third quarter saw two more scores from the Shamrocks, with Hudson King on a 5 yard rush, and Charlie Thelen catching a 20 yard touchdown pass from Jerryd Scheurer. Brody Beckhold made a couple more extra points, and the score was 42-0 after three quarters of play.
