Shamrocks defeat Farwell

The St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled to Farwell on Friday, October 15 to play the Steers. Farwell came to play, but the Shamrocks out played them and won 20-8.
The Shamrocks opened up the first quarter, driving right down the field and scoring on a 26 yard pass from Shane Cook to Lucas Simon. Tyler Groothuis put it through the uprights, making it 7-0 after one quarter.
Neither team scored in the second quarter. The Shamrocks put together a defensive stand, denying the Steer a score when they had the ball first and goal from the 6 yard line.
St. Patrick scored again in the third quarter, when the Shamrock defense toughened up, and Shane Cook returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown.
In the fourth quarter, both teams scored, with the Shamrocks scoring first on a two yard run by Lucas Simon. The Steer put one in from 5 yards out.
Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Payton Russman had 15 carries for 119 yards. Shane Cook had 9 carries for 58 yards and went 1 for 2 for 26 yards and a touchdown. Lucas Simon had 13 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive leaders for the Shamrocks was area leader Braxton Teachworth who had 14 tackles 11 assists and 1 tackle for loss (TFL). Shane Cook had 5 tackles and 8 assists. Landon Simpson had 5 tackles and 5 assists. Devin Cook had 2 tackles 2 assists 1 sack and 2 TFL. Braden Simon had 3 tackles 8 assists and 1 interception.
The Shamrocks host Burr Oak next Saturday at 2 pm for their final regular season game.
