Shamrocks continue dominance against Breckenridge

On Thursday, September 17th the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks travelled to Breckenridge to take on the 2-1 Breckenridge Huskies. The Huskies had come off a hard fought loss against Montabella, but the Shamrocks were loaded for bear and defeated Breckenridge 49-14.

In the first quarter, Emmet Fandel began is freak show with a 57 yard scamper, and his brother Aiden punched it in for the two point conversion. Emmet again broke free later, on a 69 yard run and Tyler Thelen kicked it in. Breckenridge responded with a touchdown, before Emmet Fandel showed them who's boss- with a 29 yard run and followed by a Tyler Thelen kick. This ended the quarter at 22-6 Shamrocks. 

In the second quarter, Sam Mustapha took one to the house with a 95 yard interception return for a TD. Guided by excellent coaching, Sam had multiple blockers and sound strategy on his return. Tyler Thelen kicked one through the uprights after the score. Breckenridge showed their resilience and scored, before Emmet Fandel smacked them back with a 26 yard run and Tyler Thelen kick. This left the score 36-14 at halftime. 

The third quarter saw Caleb Pline punch one in from the 1 yard line, and Sam Mustapha catch an 11 yard pass from Emmet Fandel. Tyler Thelen made one of his kicks for a 49-14 lead. 

The fourth quarter saw no scores. 

Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Emmet Fandel who had 14 carries for an astonishing 251 yards and 4 touchdowns and went 6 for 8 passing for 98 yards and 1 touchdown. Aiden Fandel also had 7 carries for 68 yards. Tyler Thelen caught 3 passes for 56 yards. 

Defensive leaders for Portland St. Patrick were Isaiah Rockey with 10 tackles 1 sack and 1 tackle for loss (TFL), Sam Mustapha with 10 tackles, Sean Fedewa with 9 Tackles, Tyler Thelen with 7 tackles, and Shane Smith with 6 tackles and 1 TFL. 

The Shamrocks host Flint Cultural Academy for Homecoming on Friday, September 25th.
