Shamrock Softball Season Preview

The St. Patrick Varsity Softball program is prepped and eager to start the 2022 softball season. After an exciting run last year that ended at the State Quarterfinal game at Central Michigan University, we are very pleased to welcome back an almost complete returning squad after losing only one senior.

We are excited to welcome back 6 starters from the 2021 season, including seniors, Carly Scheurer, Lydia Meredith, and Mara Schrauben, junior Emma Honsowitz, and sophomores Rylee Scheurer and Addie Scheurer, as they were recognized for their team contributions by the league as well as make up for 4 players with All-District honors, 3 players with All-Regional honors and an All-State Outfielder. In addition we are incredibly proud of Carly Scheurer who signed to continue her softball career next year with Northwood University. The combination of dedication, love of the game, leadership, and just overall ability to put forth maximum effort to win games by these outstanding athletes will be the powerhouse leadership we need for this season.

In addition, we are also excited to welcome back seniors Bella Meyers and Jamelyn Forist, juniors Natalee Teachworth and Hayley Fleischer and sophomores Tori Sandborn, Laynie Meredith and Hannah Weller as well as add juniors Alivia Huhn and Samantha Smith to the team this year. With a full Varsity squad in addition to a strong JV team this year, we are looking forward to what the season will bring.

The team lost no time after the conclusion of last year’s season and has continued to work hard year round. Our pitchers and catchers put in countless amounts of work and effort numerous times every week all year round. They love the game and we look forward to what they can bring to the team. In addition the entire team has focused on hitting and fielding throughout the winter, and are ready to get on the field!

For the league this year, the CMAC is tremendously talented and provides solid competition at each contest. We are confident enough to believe that we belong towards the top of the league if we play our game. Last year’s District and Regional titles were due to years of hard work finally paying off and great teamwork on and off the field.

Every year our seniors pick out our team quote of the year… this year’s selection is:

“The bigger you dream. The bigger you play. Own the moment.”

That is what we hope to do this year - We believe in the commitment from this team and look forward to the opportunity to showcase their dedication.
