Shamrock softball recap from Central Montcalm, Vestaburg, and Fowler

The Shamrocks hosted a remake game on Friday, May 22nd, against Central Montcalm. The Shamrocks took two losses and competed strongly however fell two runs short in both games.

 

Game one ended with a score of 3-5. Macie Leonard and Gracelyn Rockey split the game in the circle. At the plate, Gracelyn Rockey went 2/3 and had a double. Reese Chamberlain went 2/3 and had an RBI.

 

Game two ended with a score of 8-10. Macie Leonard and Kennedy Drake split the game in the circle and Kennedy had 5 strikeouts for the team. At the plate, Gracelyn Rockey went 1/1 and had a double, Macie Leonard went 1/2 and had an RBI, Aislynn King went 1/2 with a double, Maria Austen had 2 RBIs, Reese Chamberlain had 1 RBI, and Lily Sandborn had a big game with quality AB’s causing fielding errors and stealing 3 bases.

 

St. Patrick hosted Vestaburg for a doubleheader on Thursday, May 21st, and also celebrated Senior Night. The Shamrocks swept the Wolverines with two wins.


In game one the Shamrocks won 13-3, with a combination of pitching between Macie Leonard and Gracelyn Rockey. Together they had 4 strikeouts. Offensively, Maria Austen had a huge game going 2/2 with 5 RBIs, a homerun, and 1 Double. Gracelyn Rockey went 2/3 with a triple and 3 runs, Lily Sandborn went 2/3 with 2 RBIs, and Eden Zimmerman added an RBI.


In game two, the Shamrocks won 19-1, and Kennedy Drake pitched and had 2 strikeouts. Offensively, Morgan Krieger went 1/1 with 2 RBIs and a homerun, Gracelyn Rockey went 2/2 with 2 RBIs, and 3 runs. Maria Austen went 2/2 with 1 RBI, Izzy Anthony went 1/1 with 3 RBIs, Eden Zimmerman had 2 RBIs, Lily Sandborn and Macie Leonard each added an RBI, and Aislynn King went 2/2.


The team honored both Vestaburg’s three seniors, and our very own three seniors. Mattie Honsowitz took the field for her first outing of the season and last time of her career, it was a moment of pure joy to see her on the field one more time. Lily Sandborn and Eden Zimmerman also were honored and both had exceptional performances in both games. Our seniors filled their field dirt memory keepsakes, played catch with their fathers, and we highlighted their careers at St. Patrick and celebrated their future endeavors. We know that these ladies are leaving the program better than they entered it, and led our team with their faith filled actions, academic excellence, and with heart and positivity.


The Seniors and their families also acknowledged the scholarship they received from the Nancy Willemin family, that will propel their future plans and give them a solid foundation to begin their graduate courses.


The Coaching Staff also acknowledges and thanks these senior families for their dedication, positive influence, and complete support of the program and its accomplishments over the last four years.

On Friday, May 29th, the Shamrocks fell to Fowler in the district semi-finals 10-0.
