Shamrock Girls defeat Laingsburg and Fowler, fall to PW

The St. Patrick Girls Varsity Basketball team hosted Laingsburg in their league opener last Thursday. The Shamrocks defeated the Wolfpack 57-39. The team had contributions from each member for a solid win. Offensively, the Shamrocks were led by Mattie Honsowitz with 17 points, and 3 defensive blocks. Gracelyn Rockey also scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Macie Leonard added 10 points, and Lily Sandborn had 5 points and 3 steals.
Laingsburg was led in scoring by Mallory Woodbury with 14 points.
The Shamrocks hosted Pewamo-Westphalia on Tuesday. The Shamrocks were defeated by the Pirates 45-21. The team played hard in the physical matchup, but ultimately came up short offensively. Gracelyn Rockey scored 8 points, and had 7 rebounds. Lily Sandborn added 3 steals.
PW was led in scoring by Adrianna Eklund with 16 points.
St. Patrick hosted Fowler this Thursday evening. The Shamrocks defeated the Eagles 59-47. Good movement on offense led to opportunities in the paint, and extended shot combinations. Rebounding was key to possessions and the Shamrocks were dominate in this category. Mattie Honsowitz led the Shamrocks with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Lily Sandborn scored 16 points and had 2 steals. Gracelyn Rockey added 14 points and had 7 rebounds. Marian Davlin was a force and brought down 8 solid rebounds for the Shamrocks.
Fowler was led in scoring by Myah Rademacher with 16 points.
The Lady Shamrocks enter the Christmas Break with a 3-1 record and a strong start to the season.
