Shamrock boys sweep Lansing Christian
On Thursday, May 20th. The Pilgrims from Lansing Christian visited Portland to play the St. Patrick Shamrocks. The Shamrocks played clean baseball, and won both game handily 15-0 and 16-1.
In the first game, Chase Fitzsimmons pitched 2 innings, striking out 3 and and no walks, and Brayden Simon Pitched 1 inning. The Shamrocks scored 4 runs in the first inning, and 12 in the second inning.
Offensive leaders in the first game were Shane Cook who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's, and Evan Schrauben who went 2 for 2 with 1 RBI. The Shamrocks had 10 hits in 17 at bats.
In the second game Shane Cook pitched 4 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 5.
Offensive leaders were Evan Schrauben who went 3 for 3, and Shane Cook who went 2 for 2. The Shamrocks had 9 hits in 19 at bats.
Coach Dan Thelen said, "We had better focus today and solid approaches at the plate. Defensively, we were clean."
The Shamrocks play against Saranac on Monday, May 24th at Saranac for their last regularly scheduled game. They are working towards rescheduling the Belding doubleheader for Friday, May 28th but that has not been confirmed. The Shamrocks will begin districts on June 5th, home against Bellevue.
