Shamrock boys lose in District final

The Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks knew that they would need to play their best game to beat Webberville in the district finals on Thursday, March 25th. They played a solid game but came up short, losing 52-40.
In the first quarter, the Shamrocks jumped out hard and put together a 7-2 lead, but the Spartans surged back and tied it up 11-11 after one quarter. Connor Cross and Brice Cook both had 4 points in the quarter.
In the second quarter, the Spartans showed why they are 12-1 on the season, they clamped down on the Shamrocks and won the quarter handily 16--5, taking a 27-16 lead into halftime. Connor Cross had 2 and Tristin Huhn had a three pointer.
After the half, the Shamrocks came out again to play hard and won the quarter 15-14, but were still down 41-31. Leaders for the Shamrocks were Connor Cross with 6 points and Shane Cook with 4 points in the quarter.
In the final quarter, the Spartans played ball control basketball and just slowed down the tempo to hold on for the win, winning the quarter 11-9. Connor Cross had 4 points, and Braxton Teachworth had 3 points.
Leaders for the game were Connor Cross with 14 points, Shane Cook with 8 points, and Brice Cook had 6 points.
