Shamrock boys drop two versus Dansville

On Thursday, May 13th, the (9-2) Dansville Aggies visited Portland for a doubleheader against the (8-6-1) St. Patricks Shamrocks. The Aggies are currently number 2 in the league, and the Shamrocks struggled a bit, dropping the first game 12-5 and the second game 14-4.
In the first game, Shane Cook started out on the mound and pitched well, keeping the Aggies scoreless in the first 3 innings, and giving up 1 in the 4th. The Shamrocks had a great first inning, led by a triple by Connor Cross, and managed to take the lead 2-0 and hold it for 4 innings. In the 5th inning, the Aggies started to hit him a bit, and Connor Cross came in as relief, but the Aggies still managed to put up 5 in the inning. Connor suffered some pain in his throwing arm, and Tristin Huhn came in to finish out the game.
Leaders in the first game were Chase Fitzsimmons who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 1 walk, Shane Cook who went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI, and Connor Cross, Evan Schrauben, and Kyle Edlund all went 1 for 3.
In the second game, Evan Schrauben, Tristin Huhn and Chase Fitzsimmons pitched. The Aggies jumped out to a 7-1 lead after one inning, scored 6 in the second. The Shamrocks played good defense after that, but the Aggies still held on for the win.
Leaders for the second game were Evan Schrauben who went 2 for 3, Chase Fitzsimmons who went 2 for 3, and Austin Fleischer who went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's .
Coach Dan Thelen was disapointed with the outcome. "We ran into a good hitting team and we didn't play clean like we need to. I thought we competed well at the plate, but it just wasn't enough."
The Shamrocks next play on Monday, May 17th Home Against Potterville.
