Seven local players named to MHSFCA All-Region Football Teams

The Portland community was well represented when the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association recently announced its All-Region teams for 2020.

From Portland High School, Reese Townsend (OL), Chandler Murton (LB) and Cameron Roof (K) were named to the Division 5 Region 18 team.

From St. Patrick School, Chase Fitzsimmons (OL), Connor Cross (QB), Derec Fedewa (RB) and Shane Cook (WR) were named to the 8-Player Division 2 Region 1 team.

According to the association, all-region selections were made from member coaches throughout the state of Michigan. The all-region teams are the first step for a player and coach to be named All-State and to the Dream Team.

PHS coach John Novara and St. Patrick’s coach Pat Russman were awarded regional coach of the year honors in their respective divisions.
