Scout Troop 129B Holding Food Drive

Scout troop 129B sponsored by Grand River Conservation Club needs your help - and so do hungry people in our community. Our Scouts are participating in the annual Scouting for Food drive this fall. The 2026 food drive will take place on two consecutive Saturdays. On November 7th, Scouts will place plastic bags and flyers at doorsteps throughout parts of Portland. The following Saturday, November 14th, Scouts will collect the bags from your doorstep.  Food donations will be distributed to food pantries in our area. 

This year is Troop 129B's first year participating. Scouts across Michigan hope to match or better the success of last year’s food drive - which resulted in 257,000+ pounds of food being collected. Your help is desperately needed. Please be sure to look for your Scouting for Food bag/flyer on November 7th and fill the bag with any non-perishable food items that you can donate. 

If you do not receive a bag and wish to donate food, we will have our trailer set up at VFW Post 4090 in Portland for food drop off on November 14th from 10 AM until 1 PM. To donate by phone, text SCOUTING4FOOD to 91999 – all monetary donations will be donated to Scouting America, Michigan Crossroads Council, Scouting for Food campaign.
