Raiders top Berrien Springs to end regular season

On Friday night, the Portland High School football team traveled to the Southwest corner of the state to take on the Shamrocks of Berrien Spring.

The Raiders proved to be too much for the Shamrocks to handle, and picked up a convincing 40-6 win.

Senior running back Drew Miller led the Raiders with three touchdowns on runs of 59, 52 and 15 yards. Junior Caden Thelen ran for a 22-yard touchdown, and caught a 11-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Marc Nobis. Senior running back Branson Goodman added a one-yard touchdown run for Portland.

Berrien Springs’ only points of the game came in the fourth quarter when sophomore quarterback Micah MacFarland broke free for a Shamrock touchdown.

With the win, Portland finishes the regular season 8-1. The Raiders will start post season play on Friday night when they host Olivet.

The Eagles of Olivet finished their regular season 7-2. You can find their 2022 schedule and results from MHSAA below.

Next fall, Olivet will be joining the CAAC White along with Lakewood.

The winner of the Portland and Olivet contest will advance to face the winner of Corunna and Williamston. You can find the complete Division 5 playoff bracket HERE.
