Raider Softball wins four of last five games

On Saturday, May 16^th, the Raiders faced Owosso, Saranac and Williamston.

Owosso 9, Portland 6

Both teams had nine hits in the game, but the Trojans were able to drive more of their runners in to score.  Bella Spitzley and Molli Miilu each had two hits for Portland.  Miilu struck out six in the game.

Portland 13, Saranac 2

Miilu had a hot bat in the game going four of four with four RBIs.  Lilly Thelen added three hits for Portland, while Kameryn Burnham and Veda Smith each added two hits.  Spitzley got the win in the circle striking out eight batters. 

Portland 4, Williamston 2

The Raiders tallied 10 hits in the game, led by Spitzley who went four for four.  Miilu added three hits and Rylee Miller added two hits.  Spitzley struck out 10 Williamston batters.

On Wednesday, May 20^th, the Raiders finished their regular season schedule with a pair of CAAC White games against Lakewood

Game One – Portland 7, Lakewood 6

Burnham hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh for a thrilling win for the Raiders.  She had two hits and three RBIs in the contest.  Miilu also had two hits in the game, and she struck out four batters from the circle.

Game 2 – Portland 13, Lakewood 3

The Raider bats were hot and combined for 16 hots in the game.  Spitzley had four hits and one RBI.  Thelen had three hits and four RBIs.  Burnham added three hits.  Miilu and Miller each had two hits.  Spitzley struck out three on her way to the pitching win. 

Portland finishes their regular schedule with 15 wins and 12 losses.  They will begin district action on May 30^th at 10:00 AM at Ionia facing Charlotte.  The winner if that game will face the winner of Ionia/Lakewood in the district final that same day at 2:00.
