Raider Softball splits with Okemos to finish regular season

The Portland High School softball team hosted Okemos on Thursday for their regular season finale.

Game One: Portland 7 – Okemos 3

Freshman Autumn Reffitt went two for four at the plate with a home run and a single for the Raiders. Sophomore Jayden Townsend and freshman Chloe Page each had two hits while senior Gina Sonday added one hit for Portland.

Townsend pitched the full game for Portland striking out eight and allowing only six hits.

Game Two: Okemos 21 – Portland 11

Okemos was hot at the plate in game two, tallying 14 hits.

Freshman Bailee Fish went two for three with a double to lead the Portland offense. Townsend and Sonday also had two hits each. Senior Paige Pung had a triple for the Raiders. Sophomore Bella VanAlstine, Page and Reffitt each added one hit.

Townsend started the game on the mound and was relieved by senior Stella Durrant and freshman Gillian Pung.

The Raiders start post season play on Saturday when they face Lakewood at Ionia to start District play at 10:00. The winner of that game will meet the winner of Ionia and St. Johns in the District Championship at 2:00.
