Raider Softball improves to 7-0 with wins over Ionia
The Portland High School softball team improved to 7-0 on the season when they picked up two wins on Tuesday as they hosted the Ionia Bulldogs for a CAAC White match up.
Game One: Portland 11, Ionia 1
Portland won in a five-inning mercy in the first contest of the night.
Junior catcher Bailee Fish led the Raiders offensively going three for three at the plate with three RBIs and a double. Sophomore shortstop Claire Lyon went two for three with a triple. Sophomores Rylee Miller and Lilly Thelen each added two hits in the game.
Sophomore Bella Spitzley got the win pitching for Portland. She kept Ionia to just three hits in five innings, while striking out five batters.
Game Two: Portland 20, Ionia 1
The Raiders only needed three innings in the second game of the evening.
Senior pitcher Jayden Townsend got the win on the mound for Portland.
The Raiders combined for 20 hits in this game. Miller led at the plate going four of four with a double and five RBIs. Townsend went three for four with a double and three RBIs. Spitzley, Fish, junior Autumn Reffitt, Lyon and junior Anastasia Seidelman each had two hits in the game.

The Raiders next action will be on Saturday when they head to Bailey Park in Battle Creek to compete in the Gull Lake Invitational. Games start at 9L30 AM.
