Raider Softball goes one and two at Sports Carnival
On Saturday, the Portland High School softball team hosted three teams for a one-day tournament as part of the PHS Spring Sports Carnival.
Game 1: Portland 5 – Saranac 4
Saranac jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the game and led the Raiders until the bottom of the 7th inning. Portland would pick three runs in the bottom of the 7th to get a 5-4 win.
Sophomore Jayden Townsend and freshman Anastasia Seidelman each had two hits for the Raiders. Senior Stella Durrant, senior Paige Pung, sophomore Bella VanAlstine and freshman Anna Morris each had one hit for Portland.
Townsend pitched the complete game striking out seven.
Game 2: Traverse City Central 14 – Portland 0
Townsend and Morris each had one hit for Portland.
Freshman Gillian Pung threw two and a third innings striking out one, while Durrant pitched one and two thirds.
Game 3: Fowlerville 12 – Portland 6
Freshman Bailey Fish led Portland offensively going two for four. Junior Ava Grummett, Paige Pung, senior Gina Sonday and Morris each had one hit for the Raiders.
Townsend pitched all six innings for Portland, striking out one batter.
The Lady Raiders continue CAAC White action on Tuesday when they host Eaton Rapids. They will travel to Manistee on Saturday for a tournament.
