Raider football to start post season hosting Lakewood

The Portland High School football team finished their regular season with a 5-1 record and a CAAC White conference championship.

The Red Raiders will start their 2020 post season by hosting the Vikings of Lakewood on Friday night at 7:00. The Vikings finished their regular schedule with a 3-3 record after losing to Ionia 42-7.

The winner of the Portland/Lakewood game will move on to face the winner of Comstock Park and Grand Rapids West Catholic in the district semi-final.

Portland’s district features some of the most powerful programs in MHSAA Division 5, with four teams ranked in the final Associated Press poll. The district includes Grand Rapids Catholic Central (6-0 AP #1), Grand Rapids West Catholic (5-1 AP #7), and Hopkins (5-1 AP #8). Portland was ranked #4 in the final AP poll.
