On August 27th, both the girls' and boys' Cross-Country teams took on the challenging Saranac Invitational this past Tuesday, racing against a competitive 14-team field. The infamous hilly course—known to either build you up or break you down—posed a test of endurance and strength, but our runners rose to the occasion.
Girls' Race Highlights:
The girls battled the course with toughness, posting several strong Season Records (SRs), despite the absence of personal bests. Leading the charge was Paige Weber, clocking a season-best 21:25. She was followed by Josephine Polasek (23:37), Lauren Spitzley (23:59 SR), Georgia Stahl (23:59), and Veda Smith (25:55 SR), rounding out the team’s scoring five.
Also pushing hard through the tough terrain were Claire Lyon (27:50), Abby Seavey (29:23 SR), Willa Almy (30:43), Peyton Rockey (30:48 SR), and Jorja McFarland (34:34.8), each showing determination and effort on the demanding course.
Boys' Race Highlights:
The boys followed with an impressive showing of their own, earning 7th place overall and bringing home two new Personal Records (PRs) and one Season Record. Andrew Feldpausch, a.k.a. "Mr. Hills," lived up to his nickname with a gutsy performance, earning his second PR in a row with a time of 16:45 and finishing 13th overall.
Close behind were Owen Moore (17:29), Donnie Richmond (18:02), Aaron Martinson (19:40), and freshman James Feldpausch, who not only helped score for the team but also set a PR of 19:46.5. Rounding out the effort was Noah Huffine, who hit a new Season Record with a time of 24:57.
