Raider Boys fall to Charlotte

The Portland High School boys basketball team hosted the Orioles of Charlotte on Friday night for a CAAC match-up.

Despite a tough battle, and being within four points early in the fourth quarter, the Raiders lost to Charlotte 61-53.

Charlotte was led offensively by senior guard Braden Hill with 20 points, and junior guard Cutler Brandt with 16 points.

Sophomore guard Evan Gross led Portland with 12 points. Senior guard Marc Nobis and sophomore forward Christopher Battley each scored eight points. Sophomore guard Dominic Novara had seven points.

The Portland boys are now 7-7 overall, 2-5 in the CAAC White. Next week they travel to Laingsburg (13-0 overall) on Tuesday, and to Ionia (12-1 overall, 6-0 in the CAAC White) on Friday.
