Raider Bowling Season off to Strong Start

On Sunday, December 12th, the Portland Bowling teams traveled to Kalamazoo to participate in the Huskie Invitational tournament. The girls qualified in 1st place after the format of three Regular games and six Baker games, but unfortunately came up short in the Championship match against Pennfield (lost 1st game by 13 pins and the 2nd game by 7 pins). The girls team also had two individuals making the “All-Tournament Team” and receiving metals, Jessie Whitford and Mya Kahn. Girls bowling coach Joe Whitford said, “Very proud of our team as they handled everything from stress, nerves, sore hand/fingers, and all of the excitement.” Whitford added, “With this teams compassion for bowling, I see another league championship again!”

On Monday, December 13th, Dewitt visited Portland for a girl's bowling match. Portland prevailed by the score of 26 - 4.

The Raiders were led by seniors and high bowlers Jessie Whitford with a two game series of 377 and Kaelyn Bayless with a 250 series.

Anna Humphrey and Mya Kahn each rolled a 248 series and Lily Keller contributed with a 235 series.

Dewitt was lead by Madison Beckner's 255 series.

The boys lost 4-26. Boys were lead by Grady Heckman who shot a 328 two game series. Dewitt was lead by Alex Miller with a 363 series.
