Raider Bowlers split with Ionia

The Portland Raiders took on the Ionia Bulldogs at Meadow Bowl lanes in the Wagon Wheel on Friday.

The Varsity Girls avenged their only defeat on the season by beating Ionia 26-4. This moves their record to 7-1 and if they win their last two matches against Grand Ledge and East Lansing they will win at least a share of the division title. The team was led today by the co-captains, Mya Kahn and Lily Keller. Mya shot a two game series of 322 and Lily shot 325.

The Varsity Boys lost a tough match to Ionia 16-14. The match came down to the total pins in the baker games. Portland won the first baker by 1 pin, but Ionia won the second baker and took the match. High scorer for the boys was Alec McGinnis who shot an outstanding 239 and 221 for a 460 series.

The Raiders return to league play on Wednesday, February 8 against Grand Ledge at Char Lanes. This weekend the teams will travel to Jackson to compete in the Mel Wolf invitational tournament and the Girls Varsity will also compete in the Dewitt Baker Tournament at Royal Scot.
