Raider baseball drops two to Eaton Rapids, Sweeps Belding

Tuesday, May 12th

Game 1: The Raiders Can't Catch Up To Eaton Rapids The Raiders watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-0 loss to Eaton Rapids on Tuesday. Eaton Rapids took the lead on a single in the first inning.

Portland struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Eaton Rapids, giving up seven runs. Eaton Rapids got on the board in the first inning.

Trierweiler took the loss for the Raiders. He went five innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and striking out six. Brady Bush led offensively going 2-3

Game 2: Raiders outhit the Greyhounds but still take the loss The Raiders fell 7-2 to Eaton Rapids on Tuesday despite out-hitting them eight to seven.

Marc Nobis took the loss for the Raiders. The lefty went six and a third innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out four.

Offensively the Raiders collected eight hits on the day. Barrett Brennan and Ryan Leonard each had two hits.

Thursday, May 12th

Game 1: Portland Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Belding The Portland Raiders nabbed the lead late in the game in a 6-5 victory over Belding on Thursday. The game was tied at three with Portland batting in the top of the fifth when Mark Meyers singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. Brady Bush pitched the Raiders to victory. Bush went seven innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out seven.

Portland out hit Belding 8 to 5. Caiden Thelen and Mark Meyers went 2-4, Jorgen Sonday 2-3 and Ryan Leonard and Brady Krause were 1-2. The Raiders managed to steal 7 bases during the game! Game 2: Portland Blows Away Belding by Nine The Raiders easily dispatched Belding 11-2 on Thursday

The Raiders got things moving in the first inning scoring three runs. Caiden Thelen went for the long ball in the sixth with a home run!

Thelen pitched the Raiders to victory. The lefthander went five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out four. Mark Meyers threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

The Raiders out hit Belding 14-7. Caiden Thelen went 3-4 with 3 RBI's & Brady Bush went 3-4 while Barrett Brennan added two hits and three RBI's . The Raiders (15-4) will host the Grand Ledge Comets home on Monday 5/16 on Senior Day. League play on 5/17 against Sexton and Friday home against Alma!
