Raider and Shamrock Baseball teams both featured in Diamond Classic field

The St. Patrick and Portland High School baseball teams were both honored among the top schools in the area with invitations to the 64th Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Classic. This year’s tournament is being held at McLane Stadium at MSU. The 2026 tournament field also includes Haslett, DeWitt, Lakewood, Okemos, Lansing Catholic, Williamston, Mason, and Grand Ledge.
Severe weather caused some scheduling changes in the tournament.
Unfortunately, both the Shamrocks and the Raiders were knocked out in their first games.

Haslett 13, Okemos 4
Lansing Catholic 7, Williamston 6
Mason 4, DeWitt 2
Grand Ledge 3, Portland St. Patrick 1
The semi finals of the tournament will take place on Wednesday May 27th, and will see Haslett face Lansing Catholic at 5:00 PM, and Mason face Grand Ledge at 7:00 PM. The winners of those games will play in the championship on Monday, June 1st at 7:00 PM.
Portland added two games to their schedule before districts. They will travel to St. Johns on Tuesday and Holt on Thursday. They will trave to Charlotte for districts on May 30th where they will play a team yet to be determined. Their district features Charlotte, Lansing Sexton, Eaton Rapids and Lansing Eastern.
St Patrick will host Central Montcalm on Wednesday. Then they will travel to Fowler for districts on Saturday where they will face Lansing Christian. The winner of that game will face the winner of Fowler and Morrice.
