The Campaign to Elect Rachel Gross officially announces Rachel Gross’ campaign for Michigan State Representative for the 78th District. Her campaign for State Representative is rooted in policy aimed toward serving all people within the rural communities found within the 78th District.
Policy Statements:
Empowering Rural Voices
“I’ll make sure rural Michigan has a strong voice in Lansing by fighting for fair funding for schools, infrastructure, and healthcare, and by expanding broadband so every family and business can stay connected.”
Standing Up For Constitutional Principles
“I’ll defend equal protection under the law and uphold voter-approved constitutional rights, including Prop 3, while pushing back against efforts to roll back those freedoms.”
Supporting Farmers and Small Businesses
“I’ll support farmers and small businesses by promoting fair markets, cutting unnecessary regulations, and investing in rural economic development to create good jobs and strengthen our communities.”
Investing in Education and Infrastructure
“I’ll work for equitable school funding, expand hands-on and technical training for students, and improve roads, bridges, and water systems to build strong, safe communities.”
Making Affordable Rural Healthcare a Priority
“I’ll fight to expand rural healthcare access, lower costs, protect Medicaid, and reduce prescription drug prices so families can get care close to home.”
“I hope to bring bold, community-focused leadership to Lansing by being a voice at the table for all people within our district,” said Gross. “With this foundation in mind, I plan to take many opportunities to listen to the concerns of voters and to find solutions to the issues we face.”
Rachel Gross is a Democrat running for this newly open seat to return community-focused advocacy back to the table. Rachel is from Portland, Michigan, and graduated from St. Patrick Catholic School. She is a mother of four adult children and is heavily involved in the Portland community. She is a registered nurse with more than 25 years of experience. Most recently, she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2024. Rachel credits the many years spent during childhood on her grandfather’s farm in Pewamo, Michigan for giving her a deep-rooted understanding of what life is like for farmers within rural Michigan.
“Michigan’s rural communities deserve to be heard and respected in Lansing,” said Gross. “I know firsthand the challenges our communities face. I am committed to empowering rural voices, protecting our constitutional rights, preserving access to rural healthcare, and delivering real solutions for our families, farms, and small businesses.”
