Portland Softball falls to Unity Christian in regional finals

After winning a district title last weekend, the Raiders traveled to Hudsonville Unity Christian on Saturday to compete in regionals.
In the semi-finals, Portland topped Grand Rapids Christian 14-4. Portland tallied 13 hist in the game led by Bella Spitzley who went four for four with one RBI. Molli Miilu had two hits and four RBIs. Lilly Thelen and Kameryn Burnham each added two hits. Spitzley got the win in the circle for Portland striking out five while allowing seven hits.
In the regional finals, the Raiders fell to Unity Christian 17-8. Portland held a six to three lead in the middle of the second, but an explosive 11 run bottom of the second for Unity Christian put Crusaders in the lead. Spitzley and Thelen each had two hits including a homerun each for the Raiders. Miilu also had two hits. Spitzley and Miilu each saw time pitching for the Raiders.
The Raiders finished the 2026 season with a 20-13 record.
Unity Christian will face Stevensville Lakeshore at Kalamazoo college on June 9th in the quarterfinals. The winner of that game will face the winner of Armada and Frankenmuth on June 11th at MSU in the state semifinals.
