Portland’s Anastasia Seidelman signs to play volleyball at LCC

Portland High School senior Anastasia Seidelman recently signed to play volleyball at Lansing Community College next year. 

Seidelman told the Beacon, “I chose LCC because I wanted to stay close to home and put my education first. All of my other options did not have veterinary medicine majors. I also bonded well with the girls at open gyms and I felt I fit in just right.”

While at Portland, Seidelman played varsity softball all four years and varsity volleyball for two years. In softball she was a three-time all-academic selection.  In volleyball she was named all-academic, first team all-league, Lansing area first team, and all-county first team in both her junior and senior seasons.

Seidelman said, “My biggest thank you is to all my coaches I have had throughout the years I would not have gotten to this point without them. Early in my career they had seen potential in me that I could not see and without them I do not know if I would have ever realized. Between the training and help throughout the recruiting I could not have done it without any of them. My parents took me from place to place just about every weekend because they knew what I could do they wanted me to be better. And of course, all my teammates, the ones who challenged me, cheered me on, and picked me up in the hard moments, they were just the cherry on top.”

PHS volleyball coach Jason Zeek said, “Anastasia was an extremely hard worker from day one. She understood taking ownership in both her development, and the programs, by being present for teammates at all levels. I’m very proud and excited to see what she accomplishes moving forward!”
