Portland Raider Wrestlers take 1st at Ionia’s Mike Adamson Invitational

The Raider Wrestlers have been busy this holiday season. On Friday (1/3), all three teams were on the mat. Varsity A and B teams traveled to Hudsonville. In the dual meet, Portland beat Williamston, 44-23, and fell to Hudsonville, 29-40, bringing the team’s record to 10-3 this season.

Meanwhile, the Girls’ team traveled to the DeWitt Girls Invite, placing 6th out of 29 teams with Rylan Johns taking 1st in the 235 lb. bracket.

Last week (12/28), at Ionia’s Mike Adamson Invitational, the Raiders took 1st of 9 teams. Champions in their brackets were Isaac Kramer (138), Landon Guilford (165), Brad Meyers (175), Gunnar Williams (190), and Barrett Spitzley (512). An astounding showing for the Raiders with 14 wrestlers taking the podium, including G. Lanz, B. Simon, L. Lanz, S. Dakin, B. Hinds, Z. Stanton, M. McGregor, G. Opperman, and M. DiOrio.

Finally, the Varsity B team traveled to the DeWitt JV Jamboree (12/16). Scoring for the Raiders were M. DiOrio, G. Ingraham, T. Sands, and L. Valles.
