Portland football tops ranked Cadillac squad
The 6-1 Portland Raiders traveled to Cadillac last Friday night to face the 5-2 Vikings in a matchup of state ranked teams.
The Portland defense was a huge part of the game forcing multiple Viking turnovers.
Despite being tied 6-6 early in the second quarter of play, Portland was able to capitalize on Viking mistakes and won 32-6. The Portland win ended a four-game winning streak for Cadillac. Portland improves to 7-1 on the season with their only loss coming to DeWitt in week #2.
Portland senior running back Drew Miller had three touchdowns on the night.
The Raiders will wrap up their regular season tonight when they travel to Berrien Springs. This is the first match up between the teams in recent years.
Located in the Southwest corner of the state, about 12 miles from the Indiana state line, Berrien Springs competes in the Lakeland Conference with Buchanan, Benton Harbor, Niles Brandywine and Dowagiac. Buchanan handed the Shamrocks their sole loss of the season in a 20-14 contest on September 30th.
The Shamrocks are currently 6-1. According to the MHSAA they are also a division 5 team with an enrollment of 498.
