Portland Boys fall to Ionia

The Portland High School boys basketball team hosted the Bulldogs of Ionia on Friday night in a CAAC White contest.

In a fast paced and physical game, the Raiders put up one heck of a fight against the undefeated Bulldogs, but fell short in the end 45-39.

Ionia was led offensively by senior forward Miles Gregory with 15 points.

Sophomore guard Dominic Novara led Portland with 18 points. Sophomore forward Christopher Battley added six points and junior guard Conner Kazamer added five points.

Portland 7 – 9 – 9 – 14 – 39

Ionia 5 – 9 – 15 – 16 – 45

The Raiders are now 2-4 overall, 1-2 in the CAAC White. Next week they host Haslett (2-5 overall) on Tuesday, and travel to Lansing Sexton (4-5 overall, 2-1 CAAC White) on Friday.
