Portland Bowlers have strong showing vs. Ionia at Wagon Wheel
On Friday, the Portland Girls Bowling team once again found themselves in a tough match on Senior Night. Before the match, they honored the lone senior on the team, Lilly Keller. Then they avenged their only loss of the season by beating Ionia 20-10. This win moves the girls to 9-1 on the season and propels them to the league championship. In Game 1, the girls shot their high score of the season with a 725 over Ionia's 694. In Game 2, the girls crashed down to Earth with a 608-587 loss. This left the match up to the Baker Games. Portland was able to win both Bakers 134-119 and 144-120 to clinch the victory. High score for the girls was senior captain, Lily Keller's, 197 game and 336 two game series.
The Varsity boys team also improved to 10-0 with a 20-10 victory. In Game 1 the varsity team bowled the highest game they have all season with a 998 which is also the highest game on record for the varsity team. In Game 2 Dre Cross bowled a 276 which is the highest game ever bowled by a Portland High School bowler. He had a 483 two game series. Eli Dakin chipped in with a 214 and Alec McGinnis added a 223.
Our next competition day is February 9th versus Olivet at Wagon Wheel.
