Portland Baseball Splits with St. Johns


On Thursday, the Portland High School baseball team traveled to St. Johns for a double header with the Red Wings.


Game 1: St. Johns 8 – Portland 7

Brady Bush pitched one and 1/3 inning, striking out one and allowing two hits, while Marc Nobis pitched two and 2/3 inning striking out four and allowing two hits. Offensively, the Raiders tallied five hits. Grant Ruddy, Trent Trierweiler, Alex Russman (double), Jorgen Sonday and Ryan Leonard (triple) each had one hit for Portland.


Game 2: Portland 8 – St. Johns 4

In the second game of the day, Hunter Morris would pitch the first three innings striking out four and allowing five hits. Trierweiler cam in for the final inning getting one strike out and allowing one hit. At the plate, Trierweiler would go two for two in the game. Ruddy, Morris, Reese Townsend (double), Brady Bush and Cade Vallier (double)would each have one hit.


The Raiders travel to Lakewood on Saturday. Next week they play at Charlotte on Tuesday and at Saranac on Thursday, before heading to Ionia next Saturday for the Ionia Invitational.
