Did you ever wonder how they fought fires in the early days of Portland's history? Have you seen pictures of people working on the bucket brigade to fight fires?
Come to the Portland Area Historical Society meeting on April 22 and Assistant Fire Chief, Dave Donbrook, will tell you the fire department's history and show the department's collection of antique fire fighting equipment, including the buckets used on those old brigades. The meeting will be held at the Emergency Services Building on Grand River. The building is not handicap accessible, and part of the program does take place on the 2nd floor.
