Did you know the Grand is one of Michigan’s top rivers for smallmouth bass fishing?
That Thornapple Lake in Barry County produced the state-record northern muskellunge, a 49.75 lb. monster that was 51 inches long?
Or that a pair of Kent County lakes hold Michigan records for black crappie and largemouth bass respectively?
Tom Huggler, author of the Fish Michigan series of mapped guidebooks, will offer “Portland-area Fishing Hotspots” on Tuesday, August 19, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 421 E. Bridge St. in Portland.
The free seminar, open to the public, is part of the monthly “Nature Therapy” program, co-sponsored by Portland Parks & Recreation and First Congregational Church. The community-outreach program is designed to inform, inspire, and connect people with Portland’s unique outdoor recreational opportunities.
While registration is not required, signing up helps us to plan future programming, including area hunting opportunities, to be held in September. The registration link is https://portlandmi.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=75
