On Saturday, May 10th, the Portland High School softball team hosted and won the Jack Anderson Invitational Tournament.  The tournament is named in honor of long time Portland softball coach Jack Anderson.

 

Game 1: Portland 4, Petoskey 3

 

A three run fifth inning put the Raiders in the lead and set them up for the win.

 

Bailee Fish led the Raider offense going three for three with a triple, a double and an RBI.  Bella Spitzley, Rylee Miller, Claire Lyon (triple) and Anastasia Seidelman each added one hit for Portland.

 

Spitzley got the win in the circle pitching the complete game and striking out three.

 

Game 2: Portland 11, St. Patrick 6

 

Spitzley got the win on the mound pitching five and 2/3 striking out six, and Molli Miilu got the save going one and ½ inning striking out two. 

 

Fish went three for four with two RBIs.  Lyon went two for four with a double and one RBI.  Miilu (double), Miller, Autumn Reffitt, and Seidelman each added one hit.

 

Game 3: Portland 7, Okemos 3

 

After dropping two games to Okemos back on April 19th, the Raiders we eager for revenge in this rematch.

 

Spitzley led the offense going a perfect four for four at the plate with a home run, a double, and one RBI.  Miilu went three for four.  Lyon went two for four with a home run.  Fish added a triple.

 

Miilu got the win in the circle going six and a third inning while striking out three.  Spitzley pitched two thirds of an inning.

 

On Tuesday, the Lady Raiders hosted Eaton Rapids for a CAAC White double header.

 

Game 1: Portland 5, Eaton Rapids 4

 

The Raiders got a walk off win in the bottom of the eighth when Lyon hit a sac fly to bring in the winning run. 

 

Fish and Lilly Thelen each had two hits in the game.

 

Spitzley pitched the full eight innings striking out three.

 

Game 2: Eaton Rapids 8, Portland 7

 

The teams were tied in the seventh inning when ER scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the seventh. 

 

Spitzley, Fish (double) and Reffitt each had two hits in the game.  Spitzley had a home run, while Thelen had a triple and Lyon had a double. 

 

On Thursday the Raiders traveled to DeWitt for a non-league match-up.

 

Game 1: Portland 12, DeWitt 5

 

Lyon went three for four with a home run and four RBIs.  Reffitt and Miilu each added three hits. 

 

Spitzley got the win in the circle striking out four in seven innings.

 

Game 2: Portland 19, DeWitt 16

 

Five different Raiders tallied two hits each in the game, including Spitzley, Fish, Reffitt, Lyon and Anna Morris. 

 

Miilu got the win pitching three and two thirds.  Spitzley pitched two and a third. 

 

The Raiders are now 18-6 on the season.  On Saturday they will host Williamston, Lowell, and Owosso for the 20th Annual Suzanne J. Buche Cancer Awareness tournament. Games start at 10:00 AM.  The event always features some great raffle items and includes celebrations of who have or are battling cancer.
