PHS’s Erica Gorzen selected for Regional Teacher of the Year Recognition

We are excited to celebrate Portland High School Art Teacher Erica Gorzen, who was selected as one of Michigan’s 2026–27 Regional Teachers of the Year! Now in her 19th year of teaching and her 8th year at PHS, Erica leads our High School visual arts program and is passionate about using creativity to foster growth, build connections, and support students. Her impact reaches beyond the classroom through her involvement with PHS Art Club, PHS Theater, and our district-wide Portrait of a Learner initiative. As a Regional Teacher of the Year, Erica will join educators from across Michigan on the Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council, where she will have the opportunity to share her experiences and provide a voice for educators and students. Congratulations, Erica! We are proud to have you representing Portland Public Schools and our Raider community!
