PFCU Credit Union employees have raised $7,568.74 for The Soup Project of Portland through the Credit Union’s Jean Day program. This ongoing, quarterly initiative allows staff members to donate voluntarily in exchange for the opportunity to wear jeans during the workweek. Each quarter, the funds raised are donated to a local charity. PFCU Credit Union employees chose The Soup Project as the recipient of the donation for the second quarter of 2025.
The Soup Project is organized and run by volunteers who cook and deliver meals on Tuesdays out of the Portland Methodist Church. These meals go to those in need within the Portland School District, including those who are elderly on a fixed budget, homebound or with limited mobility, and residents living with life-limiting illnesses. Since the organization began in November 2021, they have donated 30,000 meals.
“Thanks to the generosity of donors like PFCU Credit Union and the unwavering dedication of our volunteers, The Soup Project is a powerful example of how collaboration transforms compassion into action. None of this would be possible without the incredible support of this community,” said Michelle VanSlambrouck, Board President for The Soup Project.
