Om’s Garden: Clean Skincare Products
Om’s Garden is a skincare product company that was started up by April Vogl in 2017. Her retail business produces and sells products for bath, body, and home. These products include soaps, lotions, fine fragrances, men’s grooming products, and high-quality candles.
“We began our business at the Portland Farmer’s Market and it grew from there,” said April. “We discovered that people like our products and we have expanded our operations to include a retail outlet as well as a mail order business.”
April has included her family in her operations.
“My mother was a cosmetologist,” said April. “She taught me the importance of using clean products. My products do not include harmful ingredients, such as paraben or sulfates. We try to use food-grade ingredients as well as organic ingredients whenever possible.”
April’s husband, Anthony, is involved in the business, as well as April’s brother, John. April’s two sons, John Roy and Reid also lend a hand.
“My boys designed our children’s line of soaps and of bath bombs,” said April. “These items are available in candy fragrances that children love.”
In keeping with her line of clean products, April said that “What goes on your body goes in your body.”
“Your body absorbs what you put on it so you need to make sure that your personal care products are as clean as the food you eat,” she said.
April’s current favorite product is that of “Fannie’s Pumpkin Bread Candle.”
“It’s named after my grandmother, Fannie Sandborn,” said April. It has an aroma like that of her kitchen when she was baking pumpkin bread. The candle comes with a copy of her handwritten recipe for pumpkin bread.”
April appreciates the support for her business that she has received from Portland residents.
“I am grateful to the community for the support that they have shown us,” she said. “I can’t wait to continue to grow our business and to maintain our home base of Portland. I am grateful to our customers for loving our products and for loving what we stand for. Knowing that I am helping people meet their needs makes our work worth it.”
