Obituary for Thomas Rolland Dies

Thomas Rolland Dies, of Portland, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the age of 72. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was born on October 22, 1950 in Charlotte, Michigan. Tom worked at ADM for 42, before retiring in 2012. Tom was also a member of the Ionia County Sheriff’s Posse for many years. He loved his Farmall tractors, telling stories to his friends, and old western shows. Most of all, Tom loved spending time with and making memories with his family.

Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Robert and Beverly (Rogers) Dies; wife of 52 years, Twana Dies; daughter, AmyJo Dies; sister, Patty Smith; and brother, Roger Dies. Surviving are his sons, Jason (Leanda) Dies and Jarrett (Shelly) Dies; grandchildren, Makayla (Max), Griffin, Axl, Dakota, Stormy, Memphis, and Phoenix; great-grandson, Sabastin; siblings, Susan Johnson and Lori (James) Dean; in-laws, John (Cheryl) Jorgensen, Kevin Ingram, Jeanette Wilson, and Tim (Beth) Ingraham; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Bob Beckett at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ionia.
