Sharon Joyce (Hough) Summers, age 82, of Charlotte passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
She was born in Lake Odessa, MI on January 11, 1944, to parents Keith and Ilah M. (Barnum) Hough. On December 10, 1965, Sharon married Stephen E. Summers, the love of her life, who preceded her in death in 2011. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Susan J. Hough.
Sharon is survived by her three daughters, Teresa J. Summers, Deborah (Summers) Sipperley, and Marie J. Summers; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and sisters, Shelia West of Palm City, Florida and Sandra Fisher of Sunfield.
Sharon graduated from St. Lawrence Mercy School of Nursing of Lansing in 1965 and worked her entire life in in the nursing profession in hospitals in Florida and Lansing area, ending her career at UofM Health-Sparrow Eaton (formerly Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital) in Charlotte until age 79, when she contracted Covid Encephalitis which ended her long-standing commitment to nursing. After hospitalization, she was admitted to Eaton Co. Health & Rehabilitation Services nursing home in Charlotte and remained under their expert care until her death.
Sharon will be remembered for her lifelong dedication to a career of caring for others, instructing staff and mentoring co-workers to be and do their very best in that endeavor. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the family on Sharon's behalf.
Per Sharon's wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be a private committal service and internment in the Sunfield Cemetery, with services provided by the Rosier Funeral Home.
