Samuel Clarence Mitchell, of Portland, MI, passed away December 1, 2021. He was Born in Lake City, FL, May 11, 1947. His parents were the late Samuel Clayton Mitchell and Ruth Elizabeth Pittman Mitchell. He lost his long-fought battle with cancer.
Sam was employed at GM Oldsmobile for 38 years. He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, and tinkering in the garage. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Bandfield Mitchell; daughter, Tamara Smiley (Brian Kamen); son, Troy (Deanna) Mitchell; brother, Darrell (Barb); sister-in-law, Georgia Mitchell; and grandchildren, Mitchell Smiley, McGuire Smiley, Marshall Smiley, and Joslynn Mitchell. Also surviving are aunt, Bonnie Pittman Raciborski (John) who was like a sister and dear friend, Larry Williams.
