Obituary for Ruth Ann Peake

Ruth Ann Peake, 86, died in her hometown of Portland, Michigan on April 4th 2024.

She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Thomas and Dorothy (Dellinger) Brooks. At a young age she developed an ardent passion for entertainment.  Performing at United Services Organization Camp shows with her sister and father.  Her singing and dancing carried her through adulthood, demonstrated best by her work with Portland Civic Players alongside her husband David.  For over 50 years she directed, acted, and served as treasurer with the PCP, among other roles.  Ruth Ann was diligent in several other capacities.  Serving as a bookkeeper for Peake Electric family business in Portland; secretary and later co-owner at H & G Steel; tax preparer with Expert Tax Solutions up until 2022; she worked as an active member of the Eagle Methodist church until their closure, and continuing with the Portland Methodist Church; and above all, she devoted her life as a loving mother figure for another four generations of her family.  She was fortunate to hold her newest great-great-grand Grandson just before her death.  She will be long remembered for having an open heart, bottomless generosity, a quick smile and always having a tune to sing.

Ruth Ann leaves behind her children, Christopher Peake and Cameron Peake, daughter figure Cindy McIntyre, sister Helen (Del) Bollinger, 9 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband David Peake, daughter Cree Peake, son Cole Hillard, grandchildren Ashton Peake, Cole Kelly and Parents Thomas Brooks and Dorothy (Dellinger) Brooks.

A funeral will be held April 15, 2024, there will be a service at the Portland Methodist Church in Portland, Michigan.  Visitation will be at 1p.m., followed by a service at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you honor her memory through a donation to the Portland Civic Players in her name.  There is a QR code, or you can mail checks directly to Portland Civic Players, P.O.
