Obituary for RoseMary (Fedewa) Pung


RoseMary (Fedewa) Pung, age 87, of Portland passed away peacefully on January 25, 2021. She was born on March 10, 1933 in Riley Township, Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Rose (Schrauben) Fedewa. RoseMary was a devoted homemaker - always cooking homemade meals along with delicious cakes and donuts! She worked at Iler Orchard seasonally and she also babysat for many years. She was a wonderful seamstress, sold antiques, and loved to garage sale – her little blue Ford truck was often seen around town looking for treasures. RoseMary was part-owner of Calico Attic with her sister, Kathy Bengel. She loved vintage clothing and hats and often restored them back to their original beauty. She provided many costumes and clothing to the Portland Civic Players over the years and even sold some costumes for Halloween parties. RoseMary also loved gambling and going to the casino in her spare time.


Preceding RoseMary in death are her parents; beloved husband of 68 years, Thomas A. Pung; mother and father-in-law, Leon and Pauline (Gross) Pung, Sr.; brother, Gerald (Kate) Fedewa; sister, Germaine (Fred) May; and brothers-in-law, Donald Pung, Leon Pung, Jr., John Pung, and Anthony Hradecky. Surviving are her children, Steve (Kim) Pung, Diane (Brad) Sandborn, Mark (Sharon) Pung, and Lisa (Chris) Fedewa; siblings, Joe (Alice) Fedewa and Kathleen Bengel; Pung in-laws, Robert (Bernie) Pung, Barb (Dick) Trierweiler, Dorothy Pung, Ann (Jerry) Kloeckner, Joan Hradecky, Richard (Ann) Pung, Kathie Pung, and Ken (Carrie) Pung; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank the entire staff at PALMC, the Sparrow Hospice team, Fr. Mike Alber, Jim and Linda (niece) Spring for bringing them weekly Eucharist, and a special thank you to Michelle VanSlambrook who spent many days with them prior to going to PALMC.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Father Flohe Foundation at St. Patrick’s Church or Hospice of Greater Lansing.


The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Mike Alber at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Visitation will take place on Thursday at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery.
