Obituary for Robert Lee Jurstik


Robert Lee Jurstik, of Portland, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the age of 72. He was born in Owosso, Michigan, the son of Frank and Esther (Brininstool) Jurstik. Bob was known as “Mr. Fix-it” by many and he enjoyed collecting and restoring antique engines. He was a part of the infamous Mackinaw Bridge tractor crossing. Bob worked at ADM (Central Soya) for 40 years where he was a dedicated employee until his retirement. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion.


Preceding Bob in death are his parents; brothers, Michael Jurstik and Gale Jurstik; father-in-law, Anthony Fox; and brothers-in-law, Dennis and Gary Fox. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carolyn (Fox) Jurstik; children, Jessica (Charles) Cleven and Michael (special friend, Carla) Jurstik; grandson, Caleb Cleven; siblings, Gary (Mary) Jurstik, David Jurstik, and Cheryl (Steven) Bolf; mother-in-law, Lella Fox; in-laws, Katy Remington, Tony Fox, Ron Fox, and Brenda Fox; goddaughter, Missy; godson, Joe; and several nieces and nephews.


The Funeral Service will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. For those wishing, contributions may be made to the Sparrow Cancer Center in memory of Bob. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
