Obituary for Michael Charles Klepac
Michael Charles Klepac, of Portland, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 at the age of 75. Mike was born on November 11, 1948, the son of Charles and Dolores (Sladek) Klepac.
Throughout his years, Mike found joy in a diverse array of hobbies and interests. An avid collector, he immersed himself in collecting guns and coins and metal detecting. His love for the outdoors led him to pursuits such as gold panning, hunting, and fishing, where he found peace and solace in nature. A skilled craftsman, Mike's woodworking talents were admired by many, reflecting his creativity and dedication to precision. His enthusiasm for poker and gambling added excitement to his life, while his love for raising chickens showcased his nurturing spirit and connection to the land. Mike's passion for military history and the Wild West was evident in his extensive knowledge and avid study of the subjects. He also studied geology in college. Mike found joy in sharing this passion with his family, often bonding over shows about gold mining and Old Westerns. In addition to his hobbies, Mike was committed to giving back to his community. He volunteered his time and resources generously, supporting causes such as Toys for Tots and various other charities. Mike bravely served in the US Marine Corps, where he was wounded in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart for his courage and sacrifice. Following his military service, Mike dedicated over 30 years of his life to Fisher Body, where his hard work and dedication left a lasting impact.
Preceding Mike in death are his parents; his wife and love of his life, Cecilia Bensen; brother, David Klepac; and nephews, David Klepac and Jason Bailey. Surviving are his sons, Matthew Klepac, Joseph (Caitlin) Klepac, and Thomas (Jackie) Klepac; grandchildren, Jameson, Charlotte, Spencer, and Kinsey; and siblings, Jane Klepac, Mary Klepac, and Charles Klepac.
Services will be held at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in honor of Michael. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
