Obituary for Marion Letha (Van Polen) Wrook

Marion Letha (Van Polen) Wrook, age 91, of Portland, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2021.

Marion was born in Fowlerville, Michigan, the daughter of Gerrit and Bernice Van Polen on September 29, 1929.

She married Donald Edward Wrook of Holt, Michigan on March 17, 1956. They shared 44 wonderful years of marriage until Don passed away in 2000.

Marion graduated from Portland High School in 1947. She had a wonderful work ethic retiring from the State Department of Corrections in Lansing after 25 years of service.

Marion loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and many friends. She loved her farm that she helped work in her younger years and her cottage at Higgins Lake where she spent many enjoyable hours fishing and snowmobiling with family.

Preceding Marion in death are her husband Donald, her parents, Gerrit and Bernice Van Polen, her brother, Bobby Van Polen, her sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and John Stewart and her niece, Johnnie Rae (Stewart) Latham. Surviving her are sister, Sharon (Jack) Hill of Portland, son, Michael (Kathy) Wrook of Portland, grandchildren, Andrea Rank of Lake Orion, Keeley Wrook of Portland, Kristin (Tony) Ward of Portland, great-grandchildren, Tegan Rank, Addison and Jayce Ward, nephew, Todd (Carrie) Hill, nieces, Victoria (James) Kiser, Jackie (Howard) Evans, Vallorie (Andrew) Schlecht and many great grand nephews and nieces.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kelly and her staff at Country Living AFC and to Hospice of Lansing/Ionia for the wonderful care and compassion they showed Marion.

Per her wishes, no services will be held.
