Jerry Phil Kramer, of Portland, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on December 24, 1930, in Lyons Township, Jerry was the son of August and Elizabeth (Stump) Kramer. Jerry was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for many years. A proud veteran, Jerry served his country with honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, Jerry dedicated 42 years of hard work to Fisher Body. Jerry’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He rarely missed a sporting event, always cheering from the sidelines for his children and grandchildren. He also shared his love for sports as an umpire for many years. Whether gathering with loved ones for a family celebration or enjoying time at the casino, Jerry brought warmth, humor, and a steady presence to every moment. He will be remembered fondly for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and his friendly smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 69 years, Janette (Smith) Kramer; brother, Robert (Shirley) Kramer, sister, Marguerite (Don) Cook-Bitner; sisters-in-law, Helen, Irene, Rita, Marie, and Margaret; and brother-in-law, Charles. Surviving Jerry are his children, Doug (Lynne) Kramer, Fred (Jude) Kramer, Sue (Stacey) Bosworth, Kathy (Sharon Breton) Kramer, Jean (Jon) Shattuck, Ken (Kim) Kramer, Karen (Tony) Trierweiler and Mary (Ken) Cook; grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Krysta, Zachary, Jacob, Morgan, Mallory, Mariah, Jennifer, Anna, Daniel, Nick, Kellie, Clara, Brandon, Patrick, Travis, Kasey, Tyler, Kenzie, Logan, Leah, and Shane; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Dave (Judy) Kramer; and many nieces and nephews.
