Obituary for Gerald Richard Krausz
Gerald Richard Krausz, age 86, passed away on November 11, 2020 at his home. He was born on February 5, 1934 in Sebewa, Michigan to Richard and Vera (Sandborn) Krausz and he lost both of his parents that same year. He was raised by his grandparents, Eben and Nellie Krausz in Portland Township on the family farm on Lyons Road. Gerald had a deep love for farming and he farmed all of his life. In 1958, he married Sylvia and they were married for 62 years. He attended Gibbs School and Portland High School. Gerald served in the Army in the Korean War and was chosen to go to the Aberdine Training Camp where he learned to work on tanks. He served on many boards and was a great asset to our community and township. He was not one to preach, but a godly man who lived his faith by example.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; sons, Thomas (Tammy) Krausz and Richard (Laurie) Krausz; grandchildren, Eben (Krystal) Krausz, Eric Krausz, Jessie Kay Keith, Thomas (Nicole) Krausz, Anna Kay Krausz, Brittany (Jordan) Krausz, Martin Krausz, Jared Joseph Krausz, Summer Krausz, Tyler Elliott, and Bailey Elliott; great-grandchildren, Raina, Rohne, Vera, Lilly, Mya, Ella, and Scarlett; and special friends, Ken and Barb Sandborn and Ray and Janice Ferris.
Preceding Gerald in death are his parents, Richard and Vera Krausz; grandparents, Eben and Nellie Krausz; sister, Flora Krausz; brother, Lawrence (JoAnn) Krausz; nephew, Doug Krausz; infant niece, Diane Krausz; in-laws, Tom (Ruth) Robertson; John (Lee) Robertson; and Dennis Robertson. We were all blessed by his love and devotion.
The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Nancy Patera at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2020 at the LeValley United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Danby Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
