Obituary for Gary Monroe Merrill

Gary Monroe Merrill, age 88, of Portland, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026 peacefully at his home. He was born on June 4, 1937, the son of Royce and Mildred (Friend) Merrill. Gary proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was an avid hunter, which included deer, rabbits, squirrels, and birds. Gary also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing shuffleboard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dean Merrill and Ralph Merrill and his wives, Nancy Merrill and Suzette Merrill Allen. Surviving are his daughters, Tracy Merrill, Dana Merrill, Shawna Merrill and Stephanie (Marty Olney) Merrill; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; brothers, Hal Merrill and Steve Merrill; and sister, Sandra Jones.

The Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Bob Beckett at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
